Possibility Thinking: Creative conversations on the future of FE and skills.

The Further Education Trust for Leadership (FETL) has launched this major report as a follow on to last year’s Possibility Thinking: Reimagining the future of further education and skills, which was published jointly with the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

This  new report, Possibility thinking: Creative conversations on the future of FE and skills, collects in response some of the best, most provocative and interesting current thinking from a variety of contributors on the future of FE and skills  engaging as it does  leaders from across  further education and skills in responding to and developing the original ideas.

The publication is a selection of the essays published as part the first phase of the project and features two new essays on subjects early readers felt were neglected in the original publication – the role of independent training providers and the role of governance. It also includes thoughtful responses from people within the sector to the ideas contained in all the essays. Crucially, it aims to provide a critical space in which these ideas can be further explored in written conversation and taken forward within the FE and skills sector.

The contributors bring a thoughtful, informed perspective to the ideas set forth in the essays and their views spring from the current experience of professional life in and of the UK FE and skills system.

The opportunity now is for colleagues across the sector to consider these ideas and to converse about them in the sector itself.
