On 27th July we held a webinar with Neil Bates and Professor Ewart Keep. This webinar explored the impact of greater competition between colleges and the marketisation of English FE more generally.
It was based on a new FETL report – Scripting the future – exploring the potential strategic leadership responses to the marketisation of English FE and vocational provision. It looked at how best colleges can respond to current policies and position themselves for the future. Issues such as why marketisation is popular with government, the tensions that market forces create between FE and schools, the pressures it places on traditional forms of governance, the impact of market regulation on colleges, and who actually is the customer in this marketplace were also explored.
