Whistleblowing – and the loss of the good self
An exploration in search of a new understanding of the processes that underlie the stigmatisation of whistleblowers, by Mark Stein
In times of change and shape changing such as is currently being faced in the FE and Skills sector, the possibility of grievance and complaints is to be expected and through a variety of routes: whistleblowing is commonly used in public services to great public attention and consequence.
In this lecture, Professor Mark Stein will explore the impact of the process and its stigmatisation not only on the whistleblower but also on the shame and guilt evoked in staff.

Mark Stein is Professor of Leadership and Management at the School of Business, University of Leicester. Previously, Mark worked as a senior lecturer at Imperial College London, as research fellow at the London School of Economics and Brunel University, and as researcher and consultant at the Tavistock Institute. He has also been an Adjunct Professor and Visiting Scholar at INSEAD, Fontainebleau. Mark has received an Emerald Citation of Excellence; the Group & Organization Management best paper prize; the Richard Normann Prize; and the iLab prize for innovative scholarship.Kings Place
