Jill Westerman

Jill Westerman is Principal of the Northern College for Residential Adult Education, which is based in Barnsley.
The college specialises in education for adults with few or no qualifications and was judged outstanding in all areas by Ofsted at its last inspection. Jill became its principal in 2007 after joining the college in 1993 as a part-time tutor.
Jill chairs the Institutes for Adult Learning, a group of nine providers of adult education. She has published research on leadership in education and served as chair of FETL until February 2016. She received the lifetime achievement award at the TES FE 2017 Awards.
Jill was awarded a CBE in 2010 for services to adult learning.
